Lilypad Espresso
Wooloowin
LILYPAD ESPRESSO HAS MOVED TO NEW DIGS AT NORTHGATE AND AWAITS A NEW REVIEW.
Lilypad Espresso, a little cottage-style cafe that is super child-friendly can be found tucked away in a leafy street of Wooloowin.
There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere and they boast an eco-friendly tilt with free coffee grounds (for gardening types) and extensive shelves for book-swapping.
The friendly staff prepare locally-roasted Elixir coffee, a selection of milkshakes, home made cordial (to die for), and a range of refrigerated drinks. There are plenty of tempting sweets and imported french pastries to accompany any drinks, while younger visitors will appreciate the miniature cookie monster cupcakes and chocolate brownies.
Light brunch meals are made to order - with smashed avocado with hummus, sun dried tomato and feta on turkish bread, and Italian mozarella, tomato and spinach on turkish bread among the selection. Ask the chef about his weekly "Sunday Specials", a unique menu-free concept, which takes the stress out of ordering.
Lilypad Espresso have a thoughtful collection of activities to keep children busy, including a large chalk board corner, kid-friendly books and quite a selection of interesting board games. Also, be sure to check out the pictures of the Lilypad Coffee Cup's adventures around the world, and maybe think up a new "word of the week".
Nice to know: Take the kids for a play before morning tea at Kalinga Park or Melrose Park, located just down the road from Lilypad Espresso.
