Thai Emperor
Springfield
Ask the Ipswich/Springfield locals where the best place is to get Thai food and Thai Emperor is almost always the answer.
Just down the road from Springfield Lakes, this friendly little restaurant can be found at ‘The Corner’ shopping precinct across from the Brookwater Golf and Country Club.
It’s a basic layout at Thai Emperor but that is irrelevant because the food and the service shines. Jimmy, the happy faced owner greets visitors like an old friend at Thai Emperor, and as such he is an integral part of the Thai experience and hospitality here. Even on a weeknight patrons flood in for a meal at Thai Emperor after a long day at work, to celebrate an occasion or to pick up their takeaway and for good reason.
The service is another plus at Thai Emperor, with waitresses in traditional Thai dress taking orders quickly and efficiently. The hard bit is trying to select from the list of mouth-watering Thai dishes, with a menu that includes stir-fry dishes, noodles and rice dishes, curry dishes, Thai salads and soups, all of which arrive at the table in no time. If visiting in a group, there are also banquet options available.
The Green Curry (Gaeng Keaw Warn) is beautifully rich and aromatic, packed full of beautiful fresh vegetables and with a punch of heat. The Chilli & Ginger stir fry (Pud Prik Khing) is just as aromatic and flavoursome. Duck fans; be sure to try the Ped Yang, a beautifully roasted duck dish with a sweet and sticky honey soy glaze. You’ll find it so hard to choose but these are just a couple of the favourites.
A Thai beer goes down well with most of the dishes, there is a selection available at the restaurant along with a small selection of red and white wines at reasonable prices. It is also BYO with a small corkage charge.
