Coffee Anda
Ipswich
COFFEE ANDA HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
Coffee Anda is a gorgeous child and dog-friendly Ipswich dessert café that occupies a landmark historic bakery on the cusp of the CBD.
Tucked away on the corner of Darling St East and West St just off Top of Town, the building, which dates from Ipswich’s golden era in the late 1800’s, was moved to this location brick by brick and rebuilt at the turn of the century.
Arguably Ipswich’s most ambient café, Coffee Anda has entrances on both streets, a funky industrial chic interior and a secret spacious courtyard out back with a play area and climbing wall.
Inside is full of inviting nooks and crannies, with bar stools at one window offering park vistas, funky lounge areas near the old ovens and another indoor play area with books, tables and chairs and floor games.
Being true to its location, Coffee Anda specialises in premise-baked goodies, both sweet and savoury. On the sweet side of the menu are lemon meringue waffles and tarts, bacon and caramel-drizzled scones, chocolate nutella brownies, mocha custard slices and apple, coconut and walnut strudel as well as fresh daily muffins and luscious cupcakes.
Meanwhile savoury options include ham and cheese croissants, melts and wraps.
Coffee served is award-winning Bean! Roasters from Canberra and comes well-brewed in all incarnations including iced for those hot summer days.
There are also frappes, milkshakes, thick shakes and a small selection of soft drinks, mineral water and juice.
Need to know – Coffee Anda will soon be open for dinner – keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates. The café is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of space for prams, making it a great mother’s group meeting spot.
Nice to know – Future menu additions include chocolate fettuccine and dessert tacos.
