This gift and collectables shop has an enchanting little 1940's style tea room tucked away inside and it's one of those places you're almost reluctant to reveal for fear of ruining its sense of old world exclusivity. Pass through the old colonial shop's nooks and crannies, festooned with collectables and gifts and at the back is a lace curtained lamp lit room, where a posse of patrons sit with fresh-baked scones and bone china cups of tea, listening to soft crooner tunes as if they've been doing this for sixty years.
Dining options include the popular high tea (sandwiches, fresh-baked scones and mini cakes and sweets), fresh sandwiches, quiche of the day, hot chips, sweet treats such as cheesecake and caramel slices (which come as a half or full serve) or a divine Devonshire tea with all the refinement and prices of yesteryear. Tea is served in a matching fine china tea set of cups and saucers, sugar bowls and milk jug with niceties such as tonged sugar cubes, the scones are baked fresh and come with clotted cream and raspberry jam (the source of which is the owner's secret).
Before or after tea, browse the gift shop which is a virtual Aladdin's cave of feminine affordable gifts with everything from tiffany lamps, dressing gowns, coloured champagne flutes, parasols, beaded watches, old velvet boxes, witty tea towels, wood and coconut beads and French Lace runners to kidstuff such as dolls and teddies.
