
Another one of those hidden away artisan spots, housed in what appears to be the base of a block of 1960’s flats, Welsh Lady is a western suburbs gem and ideal source of special occasion cakes and desserts.
Owner/baker Gwen makes cakes and pastries both to order and as a small stock on display in her bolthole shop. ‘Death by Chocolate’, - a lusciously rich yet gluten free fudge style cake, chocolate mousse cake, a range of Italian gateaux, tiny heart shaped meringues, hummingbird cake, raspberries and cream or lemon curd shortcake are among the many done to a tee sweet things on offer.
For a quick fix there are also gourmet pies - sweet and savoury, or quiches.
