Part Celtic breakfast hub, part 'chipper' fish'n'chip shop and soon-to-be steakhouse, this cosy little eatery tucked away off Windsor Rd is a magnet for homesick Irish diners and those seeking traditional UK style fish'n'chips.
On weekends the Irish community descend in force to chow down on the authentic Irish breakfast – either the full monty of eggs, bacon, pork sausage, black pudding, white pudding, beans and toast or the Irish breakfast roll of black and white pudding, sausages and bacon.
Neighbouring Celts from high places aren't forgotten either, with a Scottish breakfast involving the puddings, egg and bacon along with tattie scones (traditional potato bread) and square sausage.
When breakfast is done, O'Connor's morphs into the local Emerald Isle-style fish'n'chippery, with its star dishes the imported haddock or smoked cod accompanied by hand cut chips and malt vinegar and wrapped in newspaper. The rest of the usual suspects are here too – home made curry sauces, mushy peas, scampi, steak & Guinness pies, Cornish pasties or battered sausage – for dine-in or takeaway.
Charming owner Liz personally sources her ingredients from back home in Ireland and also stocks most of them along with a host of other Irish and Brit staples at her nearby grocery store the Celtic Koala.
