The finest dining to be had atop Highgate Hill, the food at Mondo also happens to be organic and, wherever possible, from sustainable and local sources.

Pared back elegant surrounds (crisp white tablecloths, wood and indigenous art) complement the Mediterranean-influenced menu which due to its simplicity is reliant on the freshness and quality of its ingredients.

As a result dishes like entrée buffalo mozzarella, vine-ripened tomatoes, green basil and olive oil or a main featuring Cape Grim scotch fillet are as good as it gets. Add a well-versed obliging wait staff, a good wine list (with some organic and biodynamic labels) and this restaurant holds its own against any of the city’s top performers.
