Brunswick St's new hotspot for dining, Herv'e is a welcome addition to this Valley strip. Inside what was once a boutique the cosy wood and stone feature dining space and slate bar is given warmth by an overhead trestle with hanging plants, creating a chic slightly Asian ambience.

The chef is French-trained and this influence finds its way onto the delectable local farmer's-sourced menu that is ideal for sharing and/or grazing- think escargots in butter and garlic, tender kangaroo fillets with a side of veges and goat's curd sauce and chicken with pan-fried potatoes and vege stack.

Platter of escargots or snails dripping in garlic butter on board with bread

Lunch-wise lighter options such as filled baguettes find their way onto the menu and healthy accompanying mocktails such as green tea shaken with fresh lime, apple and pineapple juice already have the customers raving. Which all bodes very well for the cocktail bar which is awaiting its licence. Meantime enjoy the rare treat of culinary excellence combined with BYO while it lasts.
