This smart upmarket bistro in a cool summerhouse style setting has become something of a James St institution thanks to its eponymous chef PJ McMillan.

Whether it be for a lazy weekend breakfast or late night dessert after a film festival at the Palace, Harvey’s dishes up reliably high calibre nosh.

Among the breakfast items to return for are the spiced mince tortillas and the potato rosti, creamed corn and herb salsa with poached eggs or for something light, fig apricot and raisin toast.

Lunch wise a summer jamon salad al fresco by the fountain or a winter night’s dinner of slow-cooked rabbit in the warm glassed interior as well as an interesting carefully selected wine list are all part of the experience that makes Harveys, despite its non-too-shabby location, a bit special.
