Perched right on the pandanus-fringed beachfront at Bongaree, Blue Anchorage is reminiscent of similar restaurants on South-East Asian islands. Inside there’s a slick polish-floored open-sided dining room but there can be few finer places in the area to dine or enjoy a cold Corona than outside on the patio with its paper lanterns, bamboo torches and fairy lights looking towards the Glass House mountains.

Specializing in seafood the menu’s signature dishes are the seafood chowder, bowls of chilli mussels, barramundi, and barbecued prawn skewers. But the comprehensive menu also encompasses light lunches such as burgers and fresh salads, a children’s menu with the chicken nuggets made in-house and well-executed steaks. While not cheap and with service that, although friendly can be as relaxed as the setting, it is a fine addition to the bayside dining scene.
