Squirreled away on the first floor of the century old heritage-listed ANZ bank is this massive Chinese dining room, where at lunch times tables fill up with Asian diners partaking in yum cha.
And while it's not earth-shattering it's pretty good, providing a spot of relief from the stock standard mall eateries. Yum cha trolleys trundle past bearing steamed offerings such as prawn and coriander, shark fin, scallop and pork dumplings and Shanghai buns as well as fried morsels such as chicken satay, calamari or taro dumplings and pork dim sum. For afters custard tarts, coconut jelly and sesame balls are the mainstay sweet treats.
But Yum Cha is only a fraction of what's on offer here – the extensive a la carte and banquet menus run the gamut of soups, hotpots, noodle and rice dishes, sizzling, steamed and fried seafood, pork, beef, chicken and veges and the house Peking Duck specialties.
