Fans of top quality authentic Italian pizzas bless the day that Beccofino (older sibling of Il Posto in Paddington) flung open its bifold doors onto its tree-lined dining deck, thereby ensuring a way to get a decent thin crust pizza without buying a ticket to Rome.

Since then diners continue to descend in droves to this no-booking minimalist eatery which occupies a corner of one of the few non-wool stores in Teneriffe.

The pizzas, which come in bianche (white or cheese-based) and rosse (red or tomato based) may be the stars but the rest of the Italian fare from the pastas to secondi hold their own.

Although families with children love nothing more than to occupy the group tables on the deck, it’s worth noting that there are no kid’s meals or portions offered on the menu and requests for same will not be accommodated. However there’s nary a child who won’t make a gallant attempt at polishing off a classic Margharita pizza.
