A quarter of a century ago it seemed every suburb boasted a good little restaurant in an old converted shop but now they are a dying breed, save for a few like Azafran.

Azafran still offers local diners a quality dining experience without venturing far from home. With a small leafy courtyard, a cosy claret-walled dining room and a menu that borrows from Southern France and Mauritius and incorporates a dedicated vegetarian section this is a restaurant worthy of a visit whether or not you are local.

On Tuesdays they offer a fixed price two course menu which lures the punters in.
