Annapurna may look like a standard suburban Indian restaurant but its point of difference is the variety of Indian regional cuisines that make it into the menu, especially from the south.
Here's a rare chance to dine on delicious southern specialties such as Dosa, a large thin crispy pancake, Uttapam, a thicker fried pancake with onion, capsicum and tomato topping and Ceylon beef. The southern coastal regions also feature heavily in the seafood dishes such as the coconut-infused flavours of Kerala and Goan prawns and Cochin fish (cooked in a coconut gravy with mustard seeds and saffron). And a nod to the days of the British Raj sees Balti prawn or Chicken curry on the menu.

Tandoori entrees and mains are a feature and the mixed platter comes served on a sizzling plate. Otherwise there's the usual vindaloo, korma, masala and roganjosh curry options and worth a mention are the heavenly naan breads, baked on premise in the tandoor oven.
Banquets are great value, available for a minimum of 2 people and come vegetarian, 2 or 3 course. And lunch specials would have to be the best around – a main with rice and pappadums from $7.50.
