Gyoza fans should not miss a visit to this tiny wood-panelled gyoza bar on the Emporium corner was once inhabited by Coaldrake's bookshop. In the evenings the place is abuzz as the hipster Japanese crowd descend to feast on sizzling $9 plates of pork, vegetable, chicken, cheese and seafood dumplings served by efficient kimono clad waitresses.

While the delicious gyoza is the name of the game here, everything else on the simple menu is just as good, from the okonoyami (savoury Japanese pancakes) to the chicken karaage, the spring rolls to the agadashi todu. And no need to leave for dessert with green tea or tiramisu ice-cream to finish.

Currently Ann Gyoza Bar is BYO but when the licence comes in there'll be a range of Japanese beer, hot or cold sake and kirin to accompany.
