In a line up of cheap eateries that keep Uni students and staff sustained, this modest Persian café is one of the strip’s gems. With no frills decor and seating for 22 maximum, the emphasis is on generous plates of hearty traditional Middle Eastern cuisine made with fresh ingredients.

While kebabs have their place on the menu the other offerings (including plenty for the vegetarian) hold far more interest, such as Fasenjen – chicken, walnut and pomegranate casserole or the Ghormeh Sabzi – a Persian blend of fresh herbs, stewed with kidney beans, dried lime and saffron rice. Or try the delicious Murza Ghassani – grilled eggplant with fresh tomato, garlic egg and spices.

The majority of dishes come in well under $20 and are served with a heap of fresh salad and a mound of rice, making a meal here truly excellent value.
