This chic gourmet provedore café on Racecourse Rd is not just a great source of fine deli and pantry items but boasts MasterChef 2012 semi-finalist Filippo Silvestro as its in-house artisan baker.

Customers who drop by before noon can snap up fresh baked rolls straight from the oven or, if it hasn't already walked out the door, his famous walnut and raisin bread or delicious tarts. Take the rolls plain or take a seat in the little in-house café and enjoy them filled with freshly sliced produce from the deli, prepared on the spot (nothing is pre-sliced or prepared here). Want a cup of Pickwick tea with that? In another old-fashioned touch ladies are served tea in fine bone china cups especially earmarked for the occasion.

Although there's a minimalist feel to the place, the counter and shelves are packed full of foodie essentials – a great range of smallgoods and cheeses, oils, vinegars, Maggie Beer ice-cream, pasta, Middle eastern sweets, vinegars, pates (try the Boozy Duck) and old-fashioned sodas.

Also on the future cards are in-house bread making classes with Filippo on Saturday mornings, gallery nights and cosy dinners.
