Communism meets Italy in this quirky cafe come workshop in a Newstead warehouse. Locals and workers in the know line up here for their daily well brewed di Bella caffeine fix or huddle in the nooks and crannies munching on in-house goodies such as hand-made pizzas, arancini, muffins or Pedoni (ham cheese and tomato filled Italian pastries).
Prized nook if you can get it is the tiny brick and glass enclosed courtyard with careworn lounges overseen by a revolutionary slogan otherwise strewn around the place are packing cases stamped with Russian machine gun insignias and with views on the coffee machine repair business.
Other amusements include hand puzzles, coffee cups hand-painted with weaponry, daily newspapers and local free rags and a shelf of books on forensic psychology, the mafia and Italian for Dummies.
