A welcome retreat from the glare and thrum of the city streets, Yi is all about cushions scattered on couches, tasselled lamps, soft music and walls adorned with wares you’d like to buy – books, jewellery, games and ornaments – along with a menu that borrows from East and West.

For breakfast it’s hard to beat the eggs Benedict or pancakes with bacon and maple syrup while for lunch it’s all about meals rather than sandwiches. One of the house specialties is the hot ocean feast – a crab claw, fish, garlic prawns and calamari with salad and fries – which is almost a platter for 2 at $25.

They also do a range of Asian tapas including samosas and dim sum and their signature dish is their house-baked gourmet pie. Most dishes range in price from $15 to S25.

The drinks list includes premium beers, wines and cocktails.
