In the entire arts complex this is probably the most pleasant café to hang between art viewing. Perfectly suited to the Brisbane climate, it always feels airy and cool both inside adjacent to the gallery pool and outside by the water features.

While the menu holds no major surprises – wraps, string fries, sandwiches, muffins and cakes along with a handful of hot breakfast dishes – it comes well executed and plentiful. Beware if ordering the fries for children, a five dollar bowl will in most cases feed two.

And despite there being no kid’s menu, they love the café as a venue. On Sundays the in-house artist holds sessions adjacent so parents can eat and observe offspring doing something constructive from a happy distance.
