The cute red-coated twin sister of the Spring Hill Deli makes a delicious breakfast, coffee or lunch drop-in thanks to its dedication to serving the freshest locally sourced (where possible) food.

Inside is mellow cottage chic, with timber floors, pots of herbs and flowers atop shiny recycled wooden tables and newspapers and magazines strewn casually around in an invitation to spend a while.

Coffee here is close to perfection with beans from West End roastery Cup Specialty, and the standout on the menu is anything that involves their local catch of hot smoked salmon. Otherwise for breakfast it's hard to go past the delectable eggs benny with bagel and maple bacon (or the house salmon) or house made rye bread with avo and Persian fetta, or for something else the granola and ricotta cream parfait.

Lunch is every bit as good, with options such as deconstructed taco with pinto beans, chilli, guacamole lie and organic corn chips, antipasto board straight from the next door deli or flaked smoked salmon on rye.

An ice-cream counter divides the two businesses so for afters there's a great choice of Brisbane's own Lick ice-cream on its own or as part of their signature brownie sundae or something delish from the pastry counter such as maple peanut butter cupcakes or salted caramel choc tart.

And if you like what you try on the menu there's every chance it's in stock so there's no need to bid a fave ingredient adieu but buy it to take some home instead.

*The deli will be closed from Sept 23-Oct 17 whilst the owner brushes up on her cooking skills in Italy.
