Banyo

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Site Cafe can be found nestled in a quaint character stretch of shops beside Banyo Station and despite its location in the depths of northern suburbia, it is a foodie's delight.

Touting itself as the local living room it's the kind of place to settle in, not be in a rush as everything is freshly and individually prepared on site, including the dips, jams and relishes, by the in-house chefs and using quality seasonal ingredients including herbs from their own organic herb garden.

The reward is a menu that features breakfast dishes like Eggs Moscow (vodka cured smoked salmon on mega grain toast with rocket, poached eggs and lemon myrtle hollandaise), omelette with truffled mushrooms, Israeli eggs served in a mini fry pan or spiced pumpkin French toast.

Lunch specials such as braised beef cheek and polenta pie change on alternate days alongside staples like dukkah crusted chicken burgers and gourmet sandwiches and in the sweets counter expect to find delicious stuff like raspberry baked cheesecake tartlets and peanut chocolate slices to enjoy with a Veneziano coffee.

Site Café is a child friendly zone too, with casual couches inside and a toy box given the tick of approval by the owners' young daughters. And there's a 'short-sited' kids' menu (for under 12's) with breakfast options such as chocolate chip hotcakes, in-house baked beans or one free range egg and rasher of bacon or smashed avocado, all with organic sour dough toast.

Need to know: on weekends breakfast is available till 1pm and on weekdays 11.30. The café also has free wi-fi and a free book swap and holds monthly art exhibitions to show the work of local artists.
