Nestled in the base of the new waterfront precinct by the old gasworks, French Twist's sleek patisserie café can be a destination unto itself or a great refuelling stop on the river walk to Newstead House.

On the sunny side terrace are black Parisian café style tables and chairs while indoors modern Euro chic prevails with cream and black arm chairs, black marble floors and giant mirrors, silver candelabras and vases.

While the pastries and in particular the tartes of every variety ( Ricotta, citron, strawberry, raspberry & almandine, chestnut and sweet potato) which are baked in their Bulimba kitchen take centre stage they also do 7 day breakfast, salads and casual tasty sandwiches with fillings such as poached chicken & creamy basil pesto.

Coffee here is smooth Douwe Egbert, the tea by Taylors of Harrogate and hot chocolate Italian style.
