Like its namesake the Flamingo Café is a rare creature and not easily stumbled upon, yet a detour to quaint Winn Lane lands a wrought iron seat on the astroturf or perspex pod in its tiny pink cave lounge, with a plate of the best café fare to be found in this neck of the Valley.

avo and fetta with herbs and lemon on multi-grain rye

The simple yet delicious menu changes regularly with everything prepared fresh on site. Standouts on the breakfast menu are the avo and fetta with herbs and lemon on multi-grain rye or the breakfast Bap filled with ham and fried egg, parmesan mayo and tomato jam.

Lunches are just as high in the yum stakes, with the haloumi, picked beetroot and salsa verde on sour dough hard to beat or choose from the daily revolving specials include spinach and fetta pie or croque monsieur/madame. Meanwhile sweet stuff – brownies, cookies and muffins – is baked in-house daily and coffee is excellent Genovese.

When the going gets hot in the gritty Valley streets, drop by for a pick-me-up salted caramel or frozen coffee milkshake or one of the signature Flamingo juices such as apple, lemon and strawberry or carrot, apple and ginger.
