Tippler's Tap
22 Masters St
Newstead
Brisbane
Tue-Sun 11-10
This ambient little craft beer saloon can be found tucked away a back street of the Newstead gas ring precinct.
Inside has a Nth American beer den vibe – in a dimly lit, hunter's lodge wall-scenes of fir trees and lakes kind of way, with the added attractions of a pinball machine and a Space Invaders table; otherwise a terrace out front is perfect for balmy summer evenings, decked out with timber benches and tractor stools and catching the river breezes.

Whilst the menu here is all about craft beers with a mix of local and imported, there're also a small but decent range of boutique wine and ciders. At any given time there are ten beers on tap (one keg per tap, meaning they change regularly), with an eleventh beer of the week served on a vintage English hand pump tap.

And with one of the owners hailing from Chicago, the Nth American style bar snacks are worth coming here alone for: faves are the Chicago style hot dogs (beef sausage in a soft bun with onion, gherkin, relish, American mustard and tomato) and the 1kg of organic buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce & black sesame seeds.
