Brisbane's only whisky bar, a descendant of Tasmania's Nant Distillery can be found tucked up in one shadowy corner of the Emporium – look for the oak barrels outside. By days it operates as a cellar door and by night the lights dim and the Chesterfield couch and a wall of 150 local and international malts beckons.

For whisky aficionados this intimate little bar with red convict brick papered walls is heaven and for the uninitiated it's the ideal place to learn about the art of whisky drinking under the friendly and expert guidance of the bar staff. And as it happens Nant, which produces 3 single malts is the recipient of the prestigious James Halliday vote as one of the best in the world so, if sampling, be sure to try the in-house home grown variety.

Food-wise, tasting and grazing platters featuring Cape Grimm beef and game pies, Tasmanian salmon and mini flaming haggis, Thorpe goats and sheep's cheese and other ideal whisky companions are on their way.

Need to know: To find it you'll need to leave the bright lights of the main restaurant stretch, round the corner to the left at Guzman Y Gomez and head to the end of Toulouse St. Nant is at the end on the right, diagonally opposite Ann Gyoza Bar.
