The Standard Market Company

Newstead

The Standard Market Company of Newstead would have to be Brisbane’s ultimate foodie’s paradise - a mega indoor market that incorporates a fromagerie, butcher, charcuterie, fruit and vege mart, bakery, deli and aisles of ceiling to floor gourmet and chef endorsed groceries in the centre of Gasworks Plaza.

The mega in-house fromagerie features a spectacular cheese wall featuring an excellent selection of cheeses of the world with well-versed staff on hand to assist with choosing and at the deli a well stocked counter of antipasto.

Also from the rarely found list expect to pick up whole fresh beetroots, zucchini flowers, mangosteens, pomegranates, globe artichokes and curry leaves.

The butchery stocks everything from rabbit, crocodile and quail to Bangalow ham and bacon, char sui duck breast, wagyu beef or milk fed veal schnitzel, designer sausages and a whole batch of easy-carve roasts such as Tasmanian roast lamb. Or pick up a rotisserie chicken, plain or flavour-of-the-day like lemon and oregano.

The aisles are stacked with every pantry item you’ll ever need: fresh chick peas, a range of sorbet and gelati, pure honeycomb, organic juices, chutneys, Chris Mansfield pastes, Simon Johnson sauces, Tsetsuya’s rice vinegar, organic breadcrumbs, oils and vinegars of every flavour, French butter , Maleny and Barambah dairy products and Byron bay muesli.

Along with artisan loaves the bakery stocks house-baked croissants, Danishes, Bangalow sausage rolls and a range of cakes and pastries, while at the well-stocked fruit and vege market, alongside top quality everyday produce, you’ll find black garlic, pickling onions, fresh rhubarb, taro, golden grape tomatoes, monkey bananas, radicchio, gooseberries, hand picked beans and panama passionfruit.

Need to know: Undercover parking is free with any purchase from the Standard Market Co – just get the ticket validated at the register. The Standard Market Company makes a fitting  pick up joint for a picnic at nearby Newstead House. Collect some cheese, charcuterie bread, sweets and fruit, take the river path to the gracious grounds, spread a rug under a century old tree and enjoy.
