Half bakery, half pasticceria, this Italian gem is tucked away from the main Ashgrove action and more than warrants a detour.
While the bakery side sells a mix of Aussie meat pies and Italian pane di casa, the pasticceria annexed to one side is a little slice of Italy.
Here customers congregate for everything from a traditional Italian breakfast of espresso and cannoli to an afternoon serve of freshly made gelati or biscotti and coffee.
Mediterranean treats on offer include monte bianco/nero (chocolate vanilla sponge), aragostine, baba rum, cassata siciliano, mini cannoncini (cream horns) and gorgeous ripisto (choc cherry truffles) – eat on their own or fill a box and take to a friend’s.
Meantime the heavenly gelati comes in flavours such as siciliana, cassata, ferrero roche or roast almond and fig.
