Flaming Olive Restaurant & Bar

Fortitude Valley

FLAMING OLIVE RESTAURANT AND BAR HAS CLOSED PERMANENTLY.

Flaming Olive Restaurant & Bar brings seriously good contemporary cuisine with a delicious twist to the M&A laneway foodie hotspot in the Valley.

Occupying a cavernous space with a cool minimalist industrial vibe, Flaming Olive features an open kitchen at the rear and a roomy bar area at front that spills out to a terrace overlooking busy MacLachlan St.

No visit here is complete without sampling the signature flaming olives, which are heated over an open flame, and melt-in-the-mouth breaded Spanish olives with aioli.

Other light bites include oysters served in various delectable ways, Barramundi ceviche, local organic tofu and socca – a chickpea crepe with quinoa and sautéed kale. Also highly recommended is the house cured salmon with grapefruit, pickled pearl onions, yellow radish, mixed herbs and mayo.

Flavoursome dishes here are designed to share, including the more substantive like succulent 24 hour cooked Beef Short Ribs (with pickled beetroot and smoked aubergine cream) and Tender Suckling Pig (with roasted apples and pickled mustard sauce) or the lighter Fragrant Poached Chicken (with salted radish and autumn leaves) and Truffle-infused Exotic Mushrooms (with brioche croutons and hen’s egg) -  with sides like roasted corn cob or crunchy cabbage salad with peas, herbs and sesame dressing.

Save room for a sensational dessert finale like the heavenly Blueberry Meringue or Nemesis Chocolate Cake (light as a feather and gluten free) with premise-made honey comb and choc popping candy.

With the aforementioned food it’s easy to forget that Flaming Olive is also a bar - with an extensive cocktail list ( Martinis, Champagne Cocktails, Traditional, Muddled or Popular cocktails) featuring dessert like concoctions such as the Apple Crumble, spirits, beers and a curated wine list that is mostly Australian.

Need to know: Everything is made on premise at the Flaming Olive from the lavash bread to the honeycomb, with the exception Pana di Casa from artisan bakery Crust & Co.( And soon to be gelato).
