PingAn Veggie Time
Clayfield
PINGAN VEGGIE TIME HAS CLOSED AND BEEN REPLACED BY U-TONG THAI VEGAN.
PingAn Veggie Time is Brisbane's first wholly vegan Thai restaurant - a little gem of a place on Sandgate Road in Clayfield.
The family-owned restaurant serves incredibly fresh, authentic and 100% vegan Thai food that is also MSG free.
Both indoor and outdoor seating is available at PingAn Veggie Time, with enough room for both intimate and group dining.
At first glance the extensive menu looks similar to an ordinary Thai restaurant menu, but look closer and you’ll find meat substitutes in dishes such as soy duck, tofu, konnyaku and other plant based ‘meats’.
The entrée selection is expansive, with flavoursome dishes such as their Tofu Skewers, which are served with their incredible homemade peanut sauce. Ensure you also order the Crispy Konnyaku Balls, which is an Asian delicacy that has extreme health benefits.
Popular main dishes include their Cashew Nut Stir Fry, which is eaten as a vegetable dish, with tofu or with another plant based substitute. Or try their Homemade Massaman and Homemade Thai Red Curry with Chickpeas, or alternatively with Soy Duck. The Chef makes his very own curry paste, which pays off as the dish is bursting with fresh and authentic flavour. All curries are served with a choice of brown or white rice.
The drinks are a good match for the dishes, with PingAn serving traditional Asian beverages with a vegan twist. Including the Thai Ice Tea which is served with soy milk and other Thai drinks such as Lychee Juice. There are a range of bottled beverages available to purchase, hot teas and other cold drinks.
Need to know – Centre parking is available. Anything on the menu can be ordered takeaway.
Nice to know – The restaurant is named after the owner’s son, PingAn – who has been raised as a vegan since birth.
