The Pine Kitchen
Bowen Hills
THE PINE KITCHEN HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
The Pine Kitchen is a fresh contemporary Lebanese eatery bringing the traditional tastes of the Middle East to Bowen Hill’s King Street dining precinct.
The interior of The Pine Kitchen is light and spacious, with a green plant feature wall, little white brick and pine timber booths, a communal table and separate verandah nook overlooking the street.
Open from morning to evening 7 days a week, The Pine Kitchen serves Lebanese breakfast (a rarity in Brisbane), a range of dips, starters and sides, burgers, mains and generous share plates for 2 (that could feed 3-4), as well as traditional Lebanese sweets.
On the breakfast menu are the likes of Lebanese Muesli, Vegetarian or Lamb Shakshouka Eggs (baked with smoked eggplant, hummus and served with warm flat bread), Eggplant Stack (coated in chickpea flour, topped with poached eggs & labneh, on a bed of lettuce), Pine Kitchen Wrap (flat bread filled with scrambled eggs & choice of baba Ghanoush or hummus with lettuce, spiced lamb, tabbouleh and labneh).
To accompany there’s Frankie’s Beans Colombian 3 bean coffee, organic loose leaf teas (including Early Grey, English Breakfast, matcha and chai), hot chocolate or rosewater hot chocolate or juice.
The Pine Kitchen dips include traditional hummus, beetroot and hazelnut, baba ghanoush, minted bean, Lebanese labneh or ba’atar labneh while Starters & Sides, which are perfect to share, include lightly grilled haloumi, baby calamari, traditional falafael or spiced cauliflower, as well as sambusek ( a selection of savoury pastries).
Dips are also available as a tasting plate to share, with a sample of all dips, served with flat bread.
Meanwhile salads include Tabbouleh, Fattoush, Kale Coleslaw or Pine Kitchen Salad (roast baby beets & carrots with cinnamon and honey dressing on lettuce with za’atar spiced labneh).
From the Mains, diners can choose from Spiced Chicken or Infused Beef Shish, Lemon Chicken ( oven-roasted Maryland), Pine Kitchen Kofta, or the recommended TPK Mixed Plate (beef, chicken and kofta skewers with a side of tabouleh, chips, hummus and dip).
For a real feast order one of the Share Plates for 2 such as the Pine Kitchen Mezza (kofta, chicken skewers, baba ghahoush, beetroot and tabbouleh with dukkan spices, flat bread and garlic dip) or the Vegetarian Mezza (falafel, fried cauliflower, haloumi, minted bean dip, hummus, beetroot dip and labneh served with tabouleh and sweet potato chips.
Leave room for one of the delicious desserts – must try is the house special – Homestyle Kanefah – a sweet cheese dessert soaked in sugar syrup and topped with pistachio crumble), baklava, Turkish Delight meringue or spiced cheesecake.
