NATIVO KITCHEN & BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN DECEMBER 2017.

Nativo Kitchen & Bar is a rustic Italian restaurant, wine bar and cafe in a gorgeous historic brick premise at Petrie Terrace’s The Barracks.

Open daily for breakfast, coffee, a casual lunch, apperitivo or dinner, Nativo Kitchen & Bar makes the perfect pre or post movie stop for Palace Cinema goers or a dining/ wine bar destination unto itself.

Diners and drinkers can opt to sit al fresco in the covered courtyard or in one of the cosy nooks inside, where exposed hand-made brick walls and a giant mural of Italian countryside make for an ambient setting.

Colazione (Breakfast) options include Muesli Fatto in Casa (House made granola, honey, semifreddo and dried figs), Pomodori Gratinati (slow roasted heirloom tomatoes, burrata, dried olive and pane caserecchio, Trota al Basilico (Basil cured ocean trout, zucchini fritter, ricotta, slow cooked egg and rye) or a ‘Nativo Big Breakfast’ (wood smoked bacon, poached eggs, roasted mushrooms, polenta cake, ciabatta, fennel & garlic sausage, balsamic tomatoes & fig relish).

To accompany there’s healthy juices such as Nativo Holiday (apple, orange, pineapple & mint), smoothies including Banana Breakfast (banana, oats, honey & soy milk), milkshakes, boutique Lavazza coffee and a range of teas.

For lunch and dinner, Nativo Kitchen & Bar serve a delicious range of pastas available as entrée or main size (highly recommended is the Rigatoni al Guanciale (slow braised pork cheek, fennel, chilli and tomato), traditional Italian pizzas, Scallopine (including Parmigiano di Pollo and Vitello con Pomodori), Secondi (mains) such as Osso Bucco and Pesce del Giorno (fish of the day).

Meanwhile Antipasti (Starters) include Calamari Fritti, Carpaccio di Tonno, Terrine di Coniglio (house made rabbit & pistachio terrine) and Ribollita (traditional Tuscan soup).

And for Dolci (Dessert), choices include Tiramisu, Gelato Tre Gusti (3 flavours of gelati) and the delicious Crema al Cioccolato (traditional baked chocolate pot with pistachio gelato).

Nativo’s extensive wine list features mostly Italian wines selected from all of Italy’s best wine growing regions, as well as a smattering of Australian and NZ wines, along with a range of top shelf Italian Collector wines (by the bottle).

Cocktails are strictly Italian (think Aperol Spritz, Bellini, Negroni, Americano and Amaretto Sour) while beers are mostly Australian craft beers with a handful of Italian as well as Corona and Camden Hell (UK).

A wide range of spirits are available, including a selection of Grappa, Aperitifs (including Martini, Aperol and Campari), Cognac/Armagnac, Crème and Liquor.

Nice to know – You can just pop in for a coffee any time at Nativo, with a small array of Italian and other sweet treats behind the counter.

Need to know – The kitchen is open until 10pm for dinner. Free undercover car parking (up to3 hours) is available onsite at The Barracks.
