Holed up in the gas ring precinct of Newstead is this no-frills American style burger joint where punters can design their own burgers from an exhaustive list of ingredients and have them made up freshly to order on the spot.
Décor is no frills, with seating outside or upstairs in a tiny dining room with blaring TV and orders are filled out by ticking a seven step form, starting with a choice of five buns and traipsing through eight types of patty and cheese, sixteen salad ingredients and seventeen sauces on the way.
Fortunately for the indecisive or time-poor there are a list of around eight distinctive already complied burgers to choose from, where someone else has made the decision whether to have onion rings, jalapenos, Monterey Jack cheese, Mint Jelly or fries with that.
In true American tradition all of the generously sized burgers – the plain for $8.90 or signature burger for $11.50 - come with a complimentary side of pickles but extras such as sweet potato fries, chilli bean cups, corn dogs and mozzarella sticks are an additional $2 to $6.
Round off the experience with a cane cola or black cherry Boylan soda, an m&m milkshake or an Oreo or Hershey Bar. Or a soon-to-be-stocked American beer.
