Cafe De Soyt
Albion
CAFE DE SOYT HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN 2018.
Café de SOYT is Albion’s best kept secret – a retro video games café found tucked away next to the workshop of its big brother car window tinting business.
Located on the industrial flats of Sandgate Rd, close to Breakfast Creek, family friendly Café de SOYT is a drawcard for geeks and gamers of all ages – the place to hang out and play old skool games, fuelled by top notch coffee and delicious sweet treats.
The main drawcards are a rotating monthly selection of Sega, Nintendo and Sony X-Box games, as well as a pile of table games such as Sea Battle, Spiderman and Star Wars.
Games are all free to play and customers are invited to make themselves at home and hang out with partners, family or friends.
Glass cabinets of superhero and gaming star figurines add to the atmosphere, along with an ever-changing collection of themed pop culture artworks on the walls.
Coffee by local Dramanti roasters and sweet bites include Cheesecakes (Marz Bar, Cookies & Cream, Rocky Road and Strawberries & Cream), Tarts (lemon and Lime and Macchiato) and Muffins (Blueberry or Apple & Cinnamon). In addition there’s a small selection of gluten-free treats such as Chocolate Brownie Slice and Lemon Meringue Tart.
As well as coffee, there’s hot chocolate and cold drinks including bottled juices and soft drink.
Need to know – There are a few free off-street car parking spaces in front of the shop, otherwise parking is on nearby streets.
Nice to know – All games, art and memorabilia are from the personal collection of self-confessed geek owner Eskabar who, as well as setting up the café, owns the popular car window tinting business next door (Soyt stands for ‘Show off your Tint”).
*Opening hours correct at time of visiting in April 2017.
