The allure of Green Tree Frog Cafe lies not with its food, although decent, but for the delightful treed setting and myriad of well-furnished al fresco eating nooks on timber decks. And that’s not to mention the unique ability to sink into a couch with a cup of tea overlooking the pademelon enclosure, what with the ranger’s wildlife centre directly below.
There’s plenty of room for small fry to move around and food to suit such as sandwiches, ice-cream in a bowl with topping, fruit salad, cookies, muffins and boxes of cheese crackers and dried fruit.
For adults there’s all of the above as well as breakfast Panini, bacon and egg English muffins, beer and Sauvignon Blanc/Cabernet Merlot by the bottle or glass.
The well-appointed kit-out is due to the insides of the tree house being used as reception rooms for weddings - on Sunday mornings these are opened up for a buffet breakfast for the general public, which, unsurprisingly is popular and requires booking.
