Moose & Gibson
Moose and Gibson is a hip cafe/bar located down an industrial side street in Woolloongabba, not far from the antique precinct.
Co-owned by Wallaby and Melbourne Rebel's skipper Scott Higginbotham with partners Malcolm and Danielle Watts (the trio also own Leaf Espresso Bar in Tarragindi), Moose & Gibson is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks.
The decor is a mix of urban (polished concrete floor and stainless steel stools) and bucolic (wine barrels, timber bar and vintage bike) with tables spilling onto the footpath. A highlight is their antler chandelier.
The breakfast menu ranges from homemade muesli served with seasonal fruit and natural yoghurt, to buttermilk pancakes with choice of topping (lemon butter, maple syrup, and caramelised bananas) and the Mad Moose: eggs any way you like with garlic mushrooms, spinach, bacon, black pudding, house beans, potato croquette, grilled tomato and toast.
Lunch options include a selection of gourmet sandwiches with tasty fillings like pesto and pastrami, smoked salmon and cream cheese or chicken, sundried tomatoes and brie.
The excellent coffee is Two Seasons, a Sumatran single origin, and goes down well with M&G's selection of sweet treats and mixed pastries baked fresh daily. Try the bacon and egg pie – perfection.
Need to know: A liquor licence is pending with tapas planned for the evening menu.
