Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen
West End
UPDATED: THIS VENUE HAS CLOSED.
Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen is a gorgeous café with backyard courtyard garden and herb wall that has taken up residence in the old West End fruit and vegetable store that was a Vulture Street institution for many years.
Run by Jacqui, the daughter of the original green grocer shop owners, the café pays homage to the old store with a black and white picture of Greek locals gathered in the shop. The history of the building has also been enhanced with exposed handmade brick walls and VJs to keep the Queensland character feel.
The food at Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen is a real treat, a combination of wholesome healthiness and delicious tastes. On the breakfast menu are Breakfast Pots (a mix of yoghurt, fruit and granola available as dine in or take away), Cold Coconut Quinoa Porridge, Omelette of Summer Greens and Bliss Bowls (Acai, Green Smoothie and Not-so-Nutella).
The popular Toast with Toppings are available all day with choices including Avocado, Shrivelled Tomatoes, Fresh Basil and Crispy Speck; Summer Stone Fruits with Ricotta and Herbs and Sweet Potato Hummus with Roast Capsicum and Sauerkraut.
And for lunch there’s fresh daily salads (in combos of 2 or 3 with optional added protein), Falafel Wraps and delicious burgers – try the Carnivore with slow-cooked Beef Brisket or the Herbivore (smoked garlic, field mushroom or eggplant and pickled wombok with tomato chilli jam).
Coffee is organic from local West End roasters Veneziano and tea drinkers can enjoy a special House Made Tea Tonic. There’s also cold coffee, coconut water elixir, sparkling organic soda and a fantastic selection of luscious house smoothies – try the Green Grenade (kale, spinach, lime, mint, banana and coconut) or the Liquid Gold (passionfruit, mango, banana, coconut and almond milk).
Need to know – For Kids 12 and under there’s a special Baby Bliss offering of Eggs, Soldiers or avo, ham and cheese melts with home made tomato sauce.
Nice to know – The stunning garden space out back has a funky retro ‘laneway’ that is available for functions.
