Inside the striking high-ceilinged warehouse space features retro NY wallpaper, recycled copper boiler light shades, a 200 year old oak communal table, 1960s couches and chairs and Nanna's ornaments and the attached laneway garage (open weekends) comes with a wall of splendiferous graffiti art by Guydo and Fintan Magee.
Both make a fab retreat to kick back and enjoy the sensational all day brunches and innovative drinks menu. Standouts in the food stakes are the ricotta hotcakes with salted caramel, strawberries and house-made marscapone with chocolate sprinkle and the summery mango salsa, mint, avocado and haloumi on sourdough; aside from the main menu are daily pasta or pita pizza specials and, from the counter, daily salads, Turkish rolls, gourmet sausage rolls and sweet baked tarts and slices.
Coffee comes as-you-like-it in Shuck's own in-house rich velvety blend Shuck'n'Awe or 'guest blends' such as Dark Horse by Mecca. For something refreshingly different the iced latte with juniper and citrus is the perfect summer coffee or try the Cascara tea, made from the husk of an organic coffee bean and fruit flavoured. For tea drinkers a range of standard and herbal loose leaf teas are also available.
