Miss Claudes Crepes & French Cafe
New Farm
MISS CLAUDE'S CREPES HAVE MOVED TO NEWMARKET IN 2018 AND BEEN REPLACED BY CHAYA JAPANESE RESTAURANT.
Miss Claudes Crepes & French Café is a unique pocket-sized eatery that brings a traditional slice of Normandy with a contemporary Oz flavour to New Farm village.
France-born owner Naima has created a menu of breakfast, savoury and sweet Normandy-style crepes based on her family’s own recipes as well as adding her own creative flair to the myriad of options on offer.
Market-goers will remember Miss Claudes from where it started life as a popular stall at the Eagle Farm Markets and as a current well-patronized fixture at the Eat Street Markets. Now Brisbane can get its fix of what are arguably the best crepes in town for breakfast, lunch and, on weekends, dinner at the Miss Claude’s New Farm café.
On the breakfast menu are a small and varied choice of Breakfast Crepes, ranging from the Brekky Crepe (bacon, cheese, scrambled egg, caramelized onion and Hollandaise) and the Single or Double Healthy Start (crepe/s filled with Greek yoghurt, topped with granola, honey and served with fresh banana and strawberries) up to Canadian Crepes (2 crepes with bacon filling and Canadian maple syrup topping) or Crepe Benedict galette (bacon/ham/smoked salmon with poached eggs, cheese, spinach and Hollandaise sauce). All of them go down well with a cup of Miss Claude’s well-brewed Esprosini coffee, chaii, hot chocolate or pot of tea. Otherwise there’s fresh juices, smoothies and indulgent milkshakes (Nutella, salted caramel, chocolate or coffee).
For lunch and dinner there’s a delicious number of Savoury Crepes, generously portioned enough to make a decent meal of it, with fillings divided into Chicken, Pork, Bacon, Beef, Seafood, Duck or Vegie, alongside Classics of ham, cheese, tomato, spinach and avo in various combinations. Inspirations for fillings come from around the world, including Braised Beef - with cheese, spinach, salsa, sour cream and optional jalapeno peppers or Peking Duck – with duck, cucmber, spring onion and hoisin sauce.
Save room for the sweet crepes though – they are nothing short of sensational and include varieties of Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Nutella, Classic Lemon, Combos and a Gourmet Selection such as Banoffee, Lemon Meringue, Crepes Suzettes and Apple Cinnamon Pie.
Need to know – There’s a Kids menu with Chicken, Ham or Bacon and Cheese crepes for just $8. All crepes are available for takeaway and gluten free crepes are available on request.
Nice to know – BYO drinks with no corkage charge, making a dinner at Miss Claude’s a super budget-friendly night out.
