The Deck On George
Brisbane Cbd
THE DECK ON GEORGE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
The Deck on George is the unique casual al fresco café bar arm of Brisbane’s upmarket dining institution Augustine’s on George.
Annexed to the restaurant which occupies the end terrace of Brisbane’s heritage-listed The Mansions, this sunny purpose-built deck and undercover terrace is a great off-the-beaten-track destination to enjoy a budget version of what is offer at Augustine’s, a coffee, or a great value tipple with sunset tapas.
The aspect from the deck is arguably one of the best to be had in Brisbane’s CBD, overlooking a historical corner that included the piazza (with life size Queen Elizabeth II statue) that was once home to the Bellevue Hotel, as well as the splendid Queensland Club, and the Louvre style towers of Brisbane’s Parliament House.
Coffee is Arabica, and beer, wine and spirits all come in at $10 or less. On the menu (which kicks off at 10am) light options include house-made muffins or cake or lunch snacks such as French baguette with leg ham, gruyere, Spanish onion and spinach leaves, soup or salads like smoked salmon or broad beans and roast vegetables.
For something more substantial there are chicken, beef, pork or vegetarian burgers or restaurant-inspired meals for $20 or less that include Confit Duck, Angus Beef or Prawn and House Linguine.
