And it’s a secret worth discovering, for here you’ll find some of the best breakfasts on this side of the river, prepared with the top notch carefully sourced products that are sold at the market.
Diners can pull up a seat at the wraparound balcony with its river breezes and views or in the cool air-con interior surrounded by pantry items and kitchen gadgets. The chef is happy to discuss the meals with diners, giving tips on preparation and produce used (with all of it available to purchase downstairs afterwards) and decades of being in the business mean that the owners of Rosalie Gourmet Markets know their stuff when it comes to sourcing.
Breakfast ingredients include Free Range Beaudesert Eggs, Murray Bridge Free Range Mallee Bacon and Double Smoked Ham, Brookfield Toasted Macadamia Muesli, Handmade Aphrodite Cypriot Haloumi and Maleny Natural Sweet Yoghurt.
The delectable menu includes Toasted Muesli with cranberries, yoghurt and fresh fruit or Avocado and Cypriot haloumi with soft poached eggs and French Toast with smoky speck, caramelized figs, honey and ricotta, Eggs benedict with Spinach and housemade Hollandaise on Turkish or Bacon and Eggs 3 ways with organic sourdough.
Highly recommended is the Spring Vegetable Bruschetta – asparagus, cherry tomato, Tuscan prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella and soft poached eggs with olive sourdough - and the Grilled Field Mushrooms with goats cheese fetta, basil pesto and sourdough campagne.
And for something light there’s also a delicious range of croissants and daily baked pastries available. Coffee is as good as the food and there’s also tea and juices available.
Need to know – The Balcony is open for breakfast from 7am from Friday to Sunday. They also do a great lunch, with daily made salads, quiches, savoury pastries, wraps and sandwiches available on weekdays and weekends. Entry to The Balcony is via the small car park behind Rosalie Gourmet Market.
Nice to know – There are high chairs available for families with bubs.
