GREENHILL BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED

GreenHill Bar is an industrial chic bar and eatery perched on Petrie Terrace opposite The Barracks, on the corner of Caxton Street.

While the name is a nod to the colonial past when Petrie Terrace was known as Green Hill, the menu is modern, crafted by French-trained chef and co-owner Geordie Smith (formerly of Little Larder and Tristreet Eatery).

The cool industrial décor – think blue leather booths, polished concrete floors and exposed brick walls – is the handy work of Geordie’s business partner and builder Bernie Puz.

Bar bites include charred corn on the cob with crispy pork crumb and spicy buttermilk remoulade, edamame with miso, chilli and garlic and the highly recommended baked brie with yummy dipping things.

More substantial offerings range from twice cooked lamb ribs with potato emulsion to fresh baked baguettes filled with peanut braised pork shoulder, slow cooked lamb shoulder or half kilo of Half Bay prawns.

The fully stocked bar includes craft beer on tap, domestic and international bottled beer, a small curated wine list (including drops from Italy, France and New Zealand) and a creative cocktail list featuring Melbourne Moonshine.

There’s Bootlegger Lemonade (Melbourne Moonshine Sour Mash and house southern smoky lemonade), Sweet Tea Julep (Melbourne Moonshine Sweat Tea, lillet rouge, sugar syrup and burlesque bitters) and the must try apple pie in a glass When Life Gives You Apples (Melbourne Moonshine Apple Pie, Crawleys’ spiced honey and apple syrup and herbal liquor).
