The monthly offbeat movie night kicks off in the art deco surrounds of the city's oldest theatre with two camp cult movies from late last century, one starring the shoulder pad queen of the 1980's, Joan Collins and the other pays homage to the androgynous prince of glam rock David Bowie.
Velvet Goldmine (1998) is a tribute to early 1970's glam rock with a British journalist investigating the disappearance of Brian Slade (based on David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust), with a flashback to the era and starring Christian Bale and Ewan MacGregor.
The Stud (1978) stars Joan Collins in her hot-to-trot hey day as Fontaine Khaled the wife of a wealthy but dull businessman in a tale penned by her novelist sister Jackie Collins. Once she hires Tony to run her nightclub the action moves to between the sheets with Tony struggling to keep up with her insatiable demands.
Get in early for a beanbag seat and BYO drinks and friends.
