For those who eschew drippy red hearts, teddies and milk trays and who have long since dismissed Valentine's Day as a commercial exercise in schmaltz and schmoopie-ness, there is an alternative: head for the Trash Amour Exhibition at Reverse Garbage.

Here a collection of talented local artists, craftspeople and designers have been hard at work fashioning this fabulous mini expo of recycled junk (think car tyres, computer innards and scrap metal).

Taking their influence from steam punk, Victoriana, retro pin-ups, Moulin Rouge and Carnivale, the result is a range of edgy jewellery, accessories, art works, sculpture and homewares.

Opening night on Feb 18 is a gala affair involving late night warehouse shopping, nibbles, drinks and a performance by local band Midnight Revelators (the musical love triangle child of Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan).
