Breakfast Creek Rd
Cnr Newstead Ave
Aug 19 2pm
Brisbane residents can pay their respects to the city's oldest residence and get a free slice of birthday cake when Newstead House marks its 166th birthday this Sunday.
Cranking up the party will be a concert on the Western lawn by Brisbane Brass (as part of the Free Bands in the Parks Concert series) with their Movie Magic repertoire of music from the ballet and opera and the movies.
Some seating will be provided but best to bring a folding chair or rug and some picnic food otherwise scones ant tea are available on the verandah as is the tradition on Sunday afternoons.
Either way it makes a fab setting for a Sunday afternoon sojourn just as the Leslies enjoyed it 166 years ago. And for those with children in tow don't forget the quirky Alice in Wonderland playground with the chess board and White Rabbit talking tree.
