In the spirit of 16th Century Commedia dell Arte the tale of the last crazed day of monarch Elizabeth I is brought to life in this modern theatrical masterpiece by Nobel Prize Winner Dario Fo.
Spend one last day with the virgin Queen as, after 11 sleepless nights, her handle on sanity and power gone, she grapples with the inevitable. Battling demons on all fronts – from the delusion that William Shakespeare has written all of his works about her life and haunted by the headless ghost of her sister Mary Queen of Scots, she imagines her boudoir transformed in to the Globe Theatre.
As if that's not enough, a visit by hunky heartbreaker Robert Essex is pending and there's leech-o-suction and beesting booblifts to undergo before she is fit to see receive him.
Bawdiness, swearing, sexual references and burlesque are all part of this show, which transcends language and culture and when all is said and done, gives a touching insight into the challenges of womanhood.
Directed by QTC's Wesley Enoch and starring larger than life stage veteran Carol Burns, this is one of the year's unforgettable nights at the theatre.
