This Sunday session in the relaxed and unique setting is ideal for the whole family, grandparents included, with laidback live music from throughout the ages, jazz and a touch of cabaret in an afternoon of free retro-themed fun for all.
Headlining the day is acclaimed ten-piece big band act, Swing Central. Australia's most sophisticated swing band, Swing Central is fronted by the super suave Brad Leaver, whose velvet crooning has been melting hearts all over the world for 15 years.
And opening Sunday Sounds’ exciting first winter instalment is Miss Mandy Swings, who will bring her own blend of jazz and cabaret – or “jazzaret”, as the sassy entertainer calls it – to the audience, with a cooking band and some hot latin tunes to spice up the afternoon in the spirit of 1940s swing era. Then versatile entertainers, Rhydian and the Residuals, will split the afternoon’s musical offering, serving up favourites from a diverse repertoire featuring tunes by Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis, Neil Diamond, and more.
Throughout the afternoon, roving entertainers dressed as famed chracaters of yesteryear will weave their way through the open-air theatre, adding to the carnival atmosphere as they give their best impersonations of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and others.
