Sara Macliver in Concert
With Camerata
Leading Australian Baroque artist Sara Macliver joins Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra for their first main stage concert of 2019 at the Concert Hall, QPAC on Feb 21.
Following on the exhilarating conclusion to their 2018 subscription concert series Viva Vivaldi, this will be the first of Camerata's four exciting subscription series events for 2019.
Sara Macliver, who is one of Australia’s most popular and versatile artists is regarded as one of the leading exponents of Baroque repertoire. A regular performer with all of the Australian symphony orchestras, Sara has also performed at the Perth, Melbourne and Sydney Festivals, with Pinchgut Opera, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Musica Viva, and a number of international companies.
Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, has established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance. Camerata’s string players, who perform without a conductor, are renowned for their passionate, exciting performances which engage audiences of all ages, whatever their experience.
After a dreamy entrée from Grainger, Sara’s artistry will be on display in Schumann’s intimate, A Woman’s Love and Life depicting the emotional stages of a 19th century woman’s life, and this will be followed by Britten’s brilliant and inspired set of character pieces.
Camerata will also be revealing a mystery guest on the night, before bringing the concert to a thrilling conclusion with Sara and Vivaldi’s tempestuous In furore.
Nice to know - The 2019 season's opening performance will be held at Toowoomba's heritage-listed Empire Theatre on Tuesday Feb 19th.
