Me, Myselfie & I
Goma
Me, Myselfie & I is a fun, collection-based interactive exhibition for kids at GOMA’s Childrens Art Centre, featuring multimedia artist projects.
Children can explore different ways of making their own portraits, inspired by video works by Takahiko Iimura, Phil Dadson, Miloš Tomic and a series of digital prints by Gordon Bennett.
Four different activities comprise Me, Myselfie & I:
I, You, We - Wit Pimkanchanapong’s multimedia activity invites children to create a composite portrait of their face and that of a friend or family member.
99 Self Portraits - Children are invited to transform artist Ayaz Jokhio’s image and create new identities through an assortment of outfits, also drawn by the artist.
My Pocket Orchestra - In this sound activity by multimedia artist Milos Tomic, kids can record, manipulate and mix different sounds to create a unique soundtrack that is expressive of their mood.
Catch Sight – NZ artist Angela Tiatia has created this hands-on activity where children observe how their face changes in distorted mirrors then draw themselves abstractly using a special template.
In addition, Angela Tiatia’s Looking Back invites children and families to explore ideas of representation and perception, by seeing body images that they can interact with, with a hidden element of surprise.
