Brisbane's health-conscious can rejoice - the Sunshine Coast's Kunara Organic Marketplace and Cafe has added a second location, in Albion.
Located on the ground floor of the Vita Place building overlooking the former Albion Flour Mill site, Kunara is a cosy space with most seating found on the tiny undercover patio; while inside the cafe's display cases contain a fabulous range of organic, vegan and gluten-free fare.
The menu changes daily (only the freshest and best seasonal produce is used) and the selection of salads, sandwiches, savouries and sweets is impressive – including the Moroccan beet and carrot salad with orange and cumin dressing, veggie lasagne and gourmet pies like curried steak, chicken mornay or spinach, pesto and feta. Both herbivores and carnivores are catered for with a veggie burger (sweet potato and lentil rosti, spicy sweet relish, green salad, capsicum, cashew cheese and tahini) and organic beef burger making it onto the menu.
Breakfast hasn't been forgotten either and is served all day – bircher muesli with nut mylk, spices and fruit compote, avocado on Turkish bread and bacon and egg roll with tomato chutney and baby spinach – complimented with organic coffee made with pure spring water and served with your choice of milk (biodynamic full cream or skim, Bonsoy, hazelnut, almond or coconut).
Or try a delicious, nutritious smoothie like the Zinger (spinach, kale, parsley, celery, apple, lemon, ginger and cayenne pepper) or the fruity Tropicana (mango, pineapple, passionfruit and coconut milk) while sampling Moni's famous carrot cake, chocolate chia cupcake or caramel tart.
